What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger!

" You're a girl, a woman, by far your kind has been proven as the weaker being, what makes you think, you can be as good as the others, who has had years tucked under their belt compare to you? just go back and prim up yourself and try to snag a husband like the average females, that's what you girls are good for. "

What I have is something your lil pea sized brain could never grasp and comprehend. Passion and the will to do this, to toil and sweat and sacrifice, in layman terms, or rather to make it simpler for you, the DRIVE! Something I believe you don't have, something I believe alot don't have in this age and time. Yes, I am a woman, and I'm proud to be one, yes I might not be as experienced as those who has been doing this since the age of 5, but I have grown up fighting for most of everything that I want, what makes you think that this would be any different? You still haven't changed since the past 2 years during the tournament. I should have expected so. Lemme enlighten you on the role of women in this.

Recorded images of Polynesian women, have been captured in etchings by famed author Mark Twain as early as 1819 and the first person to ever do this in Australia was a woman. Fast track to the present, the one that captured the heart, soul and compassion of everybody is the story of Bethany Hamilton, in october 31, 2003, 13 year old Bethany was attacked by a shark, I'm sure you of all people know her story. But what I'm pretty sure you ignored was the fact that she had so much of life and passion in her that she fought, a girl who was considered to have such great potential to go pro, lost the most vital part of her, her freaking arm. She can't even paddle for chrissakes, but you know what, she's way better than you, arm or no arm, she has bounced back since then and still going strong at what she does best.

I know and am fully aware that it is a male dominated sport, it is extreme, and I still have a lot to learn. But have I ever said I give up? I had let people rule my life way too long, it's not their fault, it's mine for letting them affect me. It's my fault for being bothered by them, and if you think by calling me a groupie just coz I know the pros, will stop me from trying to do my best, then you're dead wrong. I have learnt my lessons from the past, that I will not let others influence or affect me in any way, I will go for what I want. I had people telling me that my hobbies and passions are weird, so what? At least, when I'm old and grey I can say I have achieved my own lil victories, and regret nothing.

The fact that you won during that tournament against him, means nothing to me and many others. You've been riding on that win for far too long. So he's a pro, so fucking what? He has the most optimistic attitude a person could ever have.

I might not be able to pull an aerial or a barrel now. But I believe with enough hard work and commitment I can do it better than you. Whatever you have said just spurs me to be better, I will try my best, and if I can't make it, at least I can say I tried. I am no honey, I am no groupie, I am an inland surfer, you ought to understand that. I don't expect any support from you, but pls keep your chauvinistic remarks to yourself. But then again, having you say it just gives me the drive. So bro, till next time, I hope I see you at the championships next year.

You know you're IT when...

1. You look out of the balcony of your apartment, thinking that it's yours, alongside with the commitments and hardwork to it, and thinking how surreal it is when a friend says, " Congratulations, all your hard work has finally paid off ".

2. You're thinking, " semi-pro ".

3. You are doing whatever it is you've been wanting to do, without hesitation.

4. You opt to sleep, jog or stay at home when you're annoyed, instead of staying annoyed.

5. You stop trying to solve things which are out of your hands.

6. You just won a security challenge online, and all you get is a lousy, " H3y! 1 4m 4 g33k, 4|\|d th4t's c00l " t-shirt. ( Such a fashion faux pas, burn baby burn, l33t is so passe )

7. You just had your first facial and you vowed not to do it again. ( yeah right )

8. You stop trying to control variables of unknown circumstances, i.e going to places where you were warn not to step foot on.

9. You are actually sleeping normally now.

10. You fancy someone, when you think of him ever so often, and smile to yourself whenever he smses or emails or calls.

11. You can't help but wonder at times, and chide yourself for thinking bout him, when he's approximately 1500 miles away and it is an impossible feat.

12. You know he fancies you, when he teases you for making a fool of yourself for not knowing fully of his backround, and having the ever so horrible foot in mouth disease.

13. You start thinking that the 'alternative lifestyle' as they ever so often call it, might not be so bad afterall.

14. You and him have discussed about going backpacking together at his place, and if all the competitions and tournaments are done in time, to somewhere else with the other guys.

15. You realized for the first time, you actually like like a person and don't have the need to try it out so hard and just go with the flow. That when you're not looking, you might just get some romance and butterflies in your tummy feeling.

16. You are happy with how things are, coz there is no ending to something that hasn't really started, and you might probably see him, maybe a couple of times a year at most. Be it as friends or something more.

17. You are at peace, not because of him, but because you want to be at peace.

Last but not least.....

18. You watch Samurai Jack, and you realized that he has lost his memory, and is talking in surfer lingo to his big and fat Scotsman friend, whom wears a cute kitten pouch around his kilt. Like dude, I think you like totally gotten the wrong guy. I like can't fight. And you can't wait for the second installment of the episode.
Adieu.
